Another 80's classic mixing Modernity, minimalism / maximalism and technology into a very unique instrument. The Rail bass uses one of my favourite details that is so underused - the Moveable pickup. Having owned a grabber i love having the moveable pickup, it changes the tone in a different way to just switching pickups.
Unlike the grabber, which is more of a standard looking instrument with a moveable pickup - this design revolves around the pickup. Westone used a design of having the pickup move on 2 metal rails and then secured in place with a screw. All the electronics are fixed on the rail system.
I love the look of it, and would love to get one of these at some point but there must have been quite a limited production run of them. It is quite a tricky product to build, believe me I have tried and failed (you need a lot of strength in those metal rods, but I will continue trying as I love the look and would love to make it more ergonomic but keep the features.
